The General Federation of Women’s Clubs, one of the world’s largest and oldest nonpartisan, nondenominational, women’s volunteer service organizations, was founded in 1890 and chartered by the 56th United States Congress in 1901.
GFWC-SC
The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of South Carolina is a state non-profit organization affiliated with the national GFWC (General Federation of Woman’s Clubs). The NMB Woman’s Club is one of 56 clubs in South Carolina that make up the GFWC-SC. The clubs benefit from belonging to a network of socially conscious, active women who focus on meeting the specific needs of their communities through volunteer service projects.
Barnabas Horse Foundation
To provide equine-assisted services for survivors of crime, veterans, and first responders to improve their quality of life and relationships through horse and human interaction.
Bold and Beautiful Wigs for Cancer
To embrace a cause providing free wigs to men, women and children going through cancer and to send children to Camp Kemo.
Caring in Our Lifetime
Caring In Our Lifetime is dedicated to raising funds and providing financial assistance with medical expenses to individuals in Horry and Georgetown counties affected by breast cancer.
Children’s Recovery Center
The Children’s Recovery Center (CRC) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization offering child advocacy center programs in Horry and Georgetown Counties in SC. We provide forensic interviews, medical examinations, and caring advocacy for children suspected of having suffered sexual abuse. At the CRC, the child comes first. Our counselors and therapists take every precaution to keep trauma to a minimum and avoid re-victimizing the child during the process of discovery.
Coastal Carolina Adaptive Sports
To promote a healthy and active lifestyle for those with physical and mental impairments through the use of adaptive sports.
Current Transitions
A Non-Profit Organization that provides ongoing life skill classes for individuals with cognitive disorders and intellectual disabilities.
Family Justice Center
Serves victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, child abuse, and human trafficking. The NMBWC supports this organization by raising awareness at our annual domestic violence walk held in October and also providing annual funding.
Friendship Medical Clinic
Serves as the primary medical care home for Horry County adults without access to affordable healthcare.
Habitat for Humanity Women Build
Challenges women to devote at least one day to the effort to eliminate poverty housing. Women make a difference in their communities by building homes and raising awareness of local housing needs.
Hope’s Kitchen
Provides an evening meal once a week in a safe environment while providing hospitality, compassion and acceptance to those within our community and to assist and strengthen their abilities to meet life’s hardships. The NMBWC supports this endeavor by providing funding each year.
Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach
Locates permanent homes for abandoned animals; provides veterinary care; offers low-cost spay and neuter programs for dogs and cats; and teaches the education of pet responsibility. Our club donates supplies and awards funding each year to this organization
Italian American Heritage and Charitable Council
The Italian American Heritage Foundation (IAHF) is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the rich culture of Italy, increasing awareness of its history and recognizing the achievements and positive contributions made by Americans of Italian descent.
Julie’s Kids
Julie’s Kids supplements the needs of Horry County Department of Social Services (DSS) children. Julie’s Kids supplies school supplies and adequate clothing, Easter Baskets, personal hygiene products and a merry Christmas to children whom otherwise would not have these supplies.
Kind Keeper Animal Rescue
North Myrtle Beach Chamber
Supports non-profit organizations and local businesses and offers information about North Myrtle Beach as a vacation destination and a place to live and work. The chamber also promotes and sells tickets for our “Purses with Purpose” Event held in April each year. The NMBWC is proud to be a member of the NMB Chamber and appreciates the work of the chamber in our community.
North Myrtle Beach Scholarships
To provide scholarships to North Myrtle Beach High School students to attend higher education institutions as well as Trade and Technical Schools.
North Strand Helping Hand
Is a United Way of Horry County agency that serves as an emergency aid organization, which responds to the needs of the less fortunate and homeless in our community. The NMBWC donates plastic bags, peanut butter and jelly, toiletries, gifts for seniors at Christmas, and provides funding each year to this organization.
North Strand Housing Shelter
Helps the homeless and needy in North Myrtle Beach by providing food, shelter and clothing to those that are transitioning and temporarily without these items. They also help with job placement searches and provide spiritual and emotional support.
Quilts of Valor
They offer beautiful quilts for local veterans who have served our country either through retirement or injury. Each quilt is presented to a qualified recipient in a ceremony honoring the veteran.
Rape Crisis Center
The Rape Crisis Center of Horry & Georgetown Counties, South Carolina, provides a 24-hour crisis hotline to address the needs of those who have experienced rape and sexual assault. Staff advocates offer crisis intervention, emotional support, and information and referrals to survivors and their loved ones. The Center provides community education programs, short-term counseling, therapist-facilitated support groups, and special events to promote a creative means of healing.
Sea Haven for Youth
Intervenes to help homeless youth ages 13-21 in Horry County who are struggling to cope with the day to day stresses of living. Several members are involved in Sea Haven fundraisers and the club supports the organization with funding.
SOS Care
To partner and inform our community by providing hope, care and assistance to individuals with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities.
Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center
Is a center for homeless Veteran’s or those in need of food, clothing or other needs. Offering permanent residences (tiny homes) as needed. Provides help with job searches and filing claims.
