Community Outreach:
Advocacy for Children
Serves as liaison between the club and community resources focused on children, e.g., Sea Haven, Children’s Recovery Center, Girl Scouts, Children’s Advocacy Week, Bob Hope Reading Program, Thermometers, Pinwheel Garden, St, Jude’s.

Arts & Culture
Supports the club by creating and contributing to art education within our community. Help raise public awareness while engaging members in creative projects and local events. Some projects and activities include designing and decorating the St. Patrick’s Day Float, Christmas Stocking
Extravaganza, decorating a tree at the NMB Museum Festival of Trees.

Civic Engagement and Outreach
Facilitates volunteer opportunities for club members through community resources and projects, e.g., North Strand Community Home, Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, North Strand Helping Hands, Veterans Advent Boxes, Valentines Candy for Seniors, and First Responders.

Environment
To support our community by participating in activities and events that preserve and restore our natural resources. This committee manages a monthly clean up at the Russell Burgess Preserve and an annual beach clean-up through the NMB Adopt-A-Beach program. Collects recycled
plastic and/or paper bags for North Strand Helping Hands, newspapers, towels, quilts and pet supplies for the Humane Society of NMB and participates in other local beautification projects including planting native flowers at the Russell Burgess Preserve.

Education & Libraries
Education – Organizes fundraisers and other events to promote education and literacy, collects items for Tools for School project, Coats for Kids and serves as liaison between the Club and local schools. Raises monies for college scholarships and selects recipients in April. Volunteer opportunities at Current Transitions, an organization that provides life skill classes for individuals with cognitive disorders and
intellectual disabilities. In addition to Volunteer opportunities at elementary schools.

Libraries – Collects books donated at club meetings and uses them to help stock and maintain the beachside Little Libraries, promoting literacy and a love of reading throughout the community. Bookmarks are also included whenever available.

Health & Wellness
Facilitates education and awareness around health and wellness issues. Initiatives include annual health screenings, (Pap, Mamo, Colon exams), the Bold and Beautiful Wigs for Cancer, McLeod Center for Cancer Treatment, along with other in-kind events and services.

Fundraising and Special Projects:
All members are expected to participate and assist with staffing events. There is an opportunity for everyone to help.
Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes
This annual fundraiser is open to the community raises funds through ticket sales and sponsorships, welcoming ticket patrons to enjoy a self-guided tour of up to six privately owned homes elegantly adorned for the Christmas season. Additional funds are generated through the Santa’s Stash raffle, open for all to participate.

Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness & Prevention – This committee is dedicated to raising awareness of domestic and sexual violence, promoting prevention efforts, and supporting resources that assist victims and survivors. Committee members organize an annual awareness walk each October in partnership with the City of North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety and other community organizations committed to providing support and assistance to those affected by domestic violence. The committee and club support ongoing programs and initiatives including the Family Justice Center, Children’s Recovery Center, Rape Crisis Center, advocacy for legislative issues related to elder
abuse, Project Lifesaver and human trafficking awareness and resource programs.

International Day of Service (IDS) a GFWC Signature Program
GFWC International Day of Service is a day in which GFWC clubs unite in service to bring awareness to and address a specific area of need. The 2026 IDS will focus on Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention and is scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026. Members of this committee will participate by organizing a project within our community. The focus for 2027/2028 will be announced by the GFWC President.

Paint the Town Purple
Support efforts to promote awareness during “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” in October. This includes partnering with the city to support an official proclamation, organizing a public awareness event featuring community speakers, and visibly promoting awareness throughout the community by placing purple ribbons along Main Street. While separate from the annual Domestic Violence Walk, this initiative serves as an important lead-up effort to increase community awareness.

Purses with Purpose
Annual fundraiser open to the community. Funds are raised through event sponsorships, ticket sales, and a high-energy live auction featuring celebrity purses and donated designer handbags. Guests also enjoy bidding on silent auction baskets, Bubbles & Bling raffle
throughout the evening.

Leadership 2034 will be tasked with fundraising for the installation and administration of Juliet Casper as International President 2034 – 2036

Recommend annual charitable allocations, approve budget expenditures and financial requests greater than $100.

Drafts changes to the Club Constitution and presents to full membership for a vote.

Chaplain
The Chaplain Committee shall be responsible for presenting brief inspirational devotions at club meetings. GFWC is a nonpartisan, non-denominational organization, all devotion messages shall be inclusive, respectful and shall not promote or favor a particular religious belief, faith or tradition.

Communications & Publicity
Updates club website, Facebook, facilitates publicity for club news and all events in area news outlets.

Historical Records & Preservation
To organize, preserve, and safeguard the club’s historical records. The committee will oversee the scanning of past documents, including presidential workbooks, photos, paper awards, reports, and ensure they are securely stored in a cloud-based plan for long-term access and protection. The Committee will also select items of historical significance to be housed and displayed at the NMB Historical Museum.

Hospitality
Coordinates dinner reservations for meetings and manages payment collection for monthly club dinners. Assists the Corresponding Secretary as needed for special voting, coordination with officers for district meetings and state conventions if held in the Coastal District. Assists with the new member orientation and all other social events.

Leadership
The purpose is to work with new committee chairpersons to ensure they are properly trained for the volunteer positions they accepted. Chairpersons should be mentored by past presidents, past officers, or committee chairs. This committee is typically chaired by a Past President.

Legislation and Public Policy
The GFWC NMB Woman’s Club Public Issues Committee is designed to connect members with projects and activities relating to civic and social responsibilities. This program focuses on citizenship, military personnel, emergency & disaster preparedness, and safety & crime prevention. This committee also coordinates activities related to the GFWC-SC President’s projects TBD.

Socials
The purpose is to provide opportunities for members to fellowship outside of regular club meetings. The committee is responsible for selecting the venue and organizing each social gathering.

Membership
Promote club membership through recruitment activities; to recognize prospective members and provide a general understanding of membership expectations; address on-going member information needs related to membership; collect application fees, dues and sign-in guests at club meetings. This committee provides nametags and updated member yearbooks. Members on this committee will need to function as Mentors to new members who came into the club without a sponsor for a minimum of 3 meetings to assist in learning the insights of NMBWC. *Chaired by VP Membership per bylaws.

Nominating
This committee prepares the slate of officers for upcoming elections, presents the slate of officers to board members at the February meeting and to general membership in writing prior to the March meeting, facilitates the voting process and oversees the vote count. *Chaired by Past President per by-laws.

Reporting
The purpose of this committee is to compile club information for quarterly and annual submissions to GFWC and GFWC-SC. Committee Chairs gather detailed descriptions and photos of each project or event providing them to the Club President in a timely manner. Completed reports should be submitted to the club President no later than Dec 1.
