GFWC Commemorative StampThe General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) is headquartered in Washington D.C. and is also one of the world’s largest non-partisan and non-denominational women’s volunteer service organizations. The organization was founded in 1890 and chartered by the 56th United States Congress in 1901. In 2015, GFWC celebrated its 125th anniversary. There are currently more than 100,000 members in affiliated clubs throughout the United States and the world.

Credited with starting over 75% of the public libraries in America, the organization has been actively working in South Carolina since 1898. GFWC members are true volunteers in action working locally to create global change. GFWC and its members annually raise an average of $40 million on behalf of more than 100,000 projects and volunteer nearly eight million hours of service.

For more information please visit the GFWC website or follow it on Facebook.

Our club is also affiliated with the South Carolina General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC-SC) which was founded in 1898 in Seneca, South Carolina and now headquartered in Columbia.  GFWC-SC is made up of 58 clubs around the state consisting of 1,400 members who work in six areas related to the following: Arts, Conservation, Education, Home Life, International Outreach and Public Issues.

At its annual convention in April 2023, GFWC-SC awarded the North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club an unprecedented number of awards based on the club’s community service, contributions, and fundraising.
